Moving to a New Era

After working in the construction industry for over 25 years. It was time to stick it out on our own. We weren't new to the challenges that will inevitably find us but it had been over a decade since we operated a business of our own.

Back in the day we owned and operated a small family metal fabrication business out of our home shop. It was quite successful with people all over the country ordering custom signs, gates, and artwork. Every year we'd go to shows like October Fest, the State Fair, and our favorite Cowboy Christmas at NFR in Vegas. NFR alone would supply us with a year's worth of profits. When we weren't spending long quality family hours on the road, you could find us in the shop CNC cutting steel, packaging, and shipping our work all over the US. From start to finish, everything was done in-house as a family.

The beginning of the end for this company was when news of ovarian cancer struck the patriarch of the family. Many doctor visits, missed trade shows, and medical bills piling up did little to help. In the darkness, there was a shadow of hope when doctors began seeing improvement and the patient was beginning to feel better. But one afternoon while running to pick the kid up from school we got a call. It was a race to the hospital bed.

That day we lost more than a fight.

She was a wife, a mother, a sister, and a daughter. The day she went to heaven was the day hell fell on those left behind. Grieving on the hospital bed a husband and a son were left in the wind and forgotten. Never be spoken to or considered family again by those who loved their sister. It wasn't long after those medical bills took over and seized the house and the shop. Leaving a husband and a son to weather the storm in their last remaining belonging, the car.

The end of an era.

Even after a tragedy life must go on. Five years later we found ourselves working for a highly rated local general contractor, building a variety of projects, working on our technique, gaining more and more responsibility. The kid grew up and started working for the same company. He found a wonderful wife just like him, Lord help us all, and they have little thems running around now.

At this point, we had been managing construction projects for that company for over a decade. From start to finish, juggling multiple projects both commercial and residential, employees, permits, sub-contractors, clients, you name it. It got to the point where the owner was ultimately hands-off of the projects they accepted. That's awesome! Every business owner's dream! However, a decade of carrying the company's weight with little to no appreciation, being underpaid, and nothing to show for the loyalty and commitment only lasts so long. With nowhere left to go in the company and an owner who will only pass the company down to the kids. Understandably. It was time to say goodbye and start our legacy.

So Cinch Construction was born.
